Pearl Harbor Attack

- We will fight back!

Yesterday, December 7, Pearl Harbor got subjected to an unexpected attack. The ground was shaking and it was as if time stopped and stood still in the violent sound of war. No one believed what they witnessed; Japanese airplanes swarmed our naval base, Pearl Harbor, and took it out faster than lightning.

Bombs, flames and explosions

Sunday morning, a storm of over 200 Japanese airplanes destroyed and sunk four of our best Navy battleships, destroyed 188 U.S. fighter-planes, killed over 2 000 Americans and over 1 700 others were wounded. We are expecting that the number of casualties will rise and also the number of damaged vehicles.

The flames erected like lions, which ate whatever they came across. The smoke-clouds could be compared to a large duvet and explosions, which were deafening. A brutal sneak attack that started a catastrophic war.

"What is happening?"

I do not even understand what just happened. I was on my way to work when the nightmare began. It was a warm and sunny day, actually a perfect day. Suddenly the ground started to shake, the extremely loud sound of war appeared, and the drums of the bombs. It was mind-blowing and it felt like someone stabbed me straight in the chest with a rusty dagger.

The woman saying this was one of thousands of people who witnessed one of the most awful and extreme events past several years. To see America'a biggest military base get blown up so easily and got ruined.

Two Waves

The attack was separated in two waves. The first wave came at 07.55. Some 150 planes bombed and fired an enormous amount of shots for 35 minutes, which caused an enormous demolition. Then a second wave, of some 100 planes, attacked the base 09.00 o’clock. A report said that six Japanese airplanes have be taken out, but it is a small amount of what they operated with.

War on Germany?

New reports from the White House claim that, Franklin Delano Roosevelt declared war on Germany and the Axis powers. The United States of America is officially involved in a war, but what about our weakened military arm? What about our sunken ships? What about the planes?

Why us?

  • People walked around in the streets and did not even act like Pearl Harbor got blown in the air by Japan's air force. It was (and still is) a heartbreaking mystery. Teardrops fell and filled the depressive streets with sadness. When I walk around in the city everybody’s head point down, but when they look up their eyes lit up in the dark, glossy and reddish. Why us?

When finally the sound of sirens was gone, you could hear the sound of sadness. People stood around every street corner and wept, and so did I.

Shortly after the interview the lovely woman got the message that her husband past away.

Rumors from the House says that, Roosevelt has to get the American army at the pitch again and he will, as soon as possible start to repair the damages. The first plan is to fix, at least three of the battleships. Fresh news saying that there was a problem with the co-ordination between Washington and Oahu, also between different forces, possible a problem caused by the Japans, but we do not know yet.

On behalf of us, we want to thank the heroic soldiers, firefighters, medical officers and not least the volunteers. Big thanks to your heroic effort and your will to help.
