Last night at Griffin’s Wharf in Boston between the hours of 7:00 and 10:00 PM, 340 chests filled with tea: , weighing over 92,000 pounds, were dumped into the Boston Harbor. The British East India Company, which is the owner of the tea, is reporting £9,659 worth of damage caused by this act.

No taxation without representation!
This is the message we are sending to the British. It means that we, the people of a brave new
land, do not want to be taxed by a parliament we are not representatet in.
Dressed up as Native Americans?
There were hundreds of rebels dressed up as Native Americans, as they who dumped the tea in the harbor. So iInitially, the natives got the blame. However, further investigations suggest that disguises were used. We have been able to speak with one of the rebels; he confirmed that it only was a disguise to hide their identity from the British, and avoid punishment. Our informant is one of the 116 rebels that have talked to the press, and that is just a few of participants. However, the disguise seems to have worked since only one of these heroes is arrested.
The Sons of Liberty!
The Sons of Liberty is a secret organization of businessmen, they protect the rights of the colonies and fight taxation by the British government.
The Sons of Liberty are the real brains behind the operation, over 5,000 people gathered at the largest public building in Boston, the Old South Meeting House at 10:00 AM yesterday. To decide what was to be done about the tea, and to plan this act of protest.
Well Planned
The Sons of Liberty had planned this very carefully, and were just as careful about how the action was carried out. They occupied three boats, “Dartmouth”, “Eleanor”, and the “Beaver”. Furthermore, there have has there been no reports of any damage to the boats or any personal belongings. Except for one broken padlock, that was swiftly replaced today. After the destruction of the tea, the participants cleaned up the decks of the ships, and everything was put back in its proper place. No casualties are recorded, and it seems like nobody even got hurt last night.
Why?
The reason for all of this is the high taxes forced upon the colonies by the British, even do even though we are not represented in the Parliament. The trigger for this event is the Tea Act from 10. December this year. The Act is a specialist deal for the East India Company, which allows them to pay only 3 pence in taxes for 0,5kg tea, while everybody else have to pay 15 pence. The Sons of Liberty, being businessmen, saw that this was bad for business, because it would give the East India Company a monopoly on tea sales in American. The Sons of Liberty quickly sprung to action; in fact, it has only been six days since the Brits enforced this Act.
The Empire Strikes Back
Have the Sons of Liberty been successful in their protest? It seems like King George III is tightening his grip on Boston and the colony’s colonies. Sins Since ships full off soldiers just left harbors in Britain and are heading for America. However, is it enough for Britain to reclaim control orare is this the beginning of a revolution?
